Hospital Leader Views on the Family-Centeredness of Pediatric Care: A Global Survey
This global survey of hospital leaders from 215 pediatric hospitals across 38 countries examines how family-centered care (FCC) is understood and implemented in practice, and provided preliminary validation of the Family-Centered Care Hospital Policies and Practices Scale (FCC-HPPS). While leaders widely reported strong support for FCC at the bedside, fewer described meaningful family partnership at the organizational level or clear accountability for FCC. Hospitals with active Patient and Family Advisory Councils (PFACs) reported stronger FCC cultures, highlighting the importance of formal family engagement structures in advancing high-quality, family-centered pediatric care.
